about

Landa Strasa - Demo 01.

In 2019 I had created a new musical project called Scür. But it was a failed project due to some problems with the monicker (and perhaps because it wasn't too crude for the standards that were beginning to assert themselves in the new scene called "Raw Black Metal").
I had made 7 demos, but one in particular was to my taste, and that's what I then released under the monicker Landa Strasa.
Why do something like this?
For one simple reason: Landa Strasa is not a musical project, but a joke!

Just from 2019 the fashion of playing in the most rough and dirty way possible began to spread.
Many have argued that they wanted to sound similar to the Legiones Noir, but that context had a specific meaning, its own raison d'étre.
Instead I have noticed the tendency of many self-proclaimed musicians to hide behind this way of playing and mixing, because they are really incapable of doing better.

I too create musical productions that have a raw sound, because I don't appreciate the plastic sound of major label overproductions, but when I mix an album I make sure that the sound is powerful and that all the instruments played have their rightful place.
Today however there is a tendency to go by subtraction. Who eliminates the bass, who reduces everything to a single guitar line, who has eliminated the guitar completely using ultra-distorted synth sounds (I wonder what sense it has to call it Black "Metal").

As if that wasn't enough, Black Metal today has become a parody of itself. Sometimes I look at the internet pages of some sector labels and evaluate the bands produced, and I don't know whether to laugh or get angry at seeing how the whole Black Metal context has been reduced to a joke.
I read high-sounding headlines about supposed vampires and demon lords. But in reality, behind the facade of being tough and pure, there are hidden kids who are too focused on role-playing games.
And what leaves me even more thrilled is to note how many people buy this type of production because they are pumped as "true", when instead we are in front of the vanity fair.

So I won't apologize for taking an old demo and re-editing it under a new monicker and with a new graphic image.
It made no sense to produce new material for a project that would end with just one demo.
My goal was to remix the old tracks in the grimmest way possible and make a bet with myself: would I be able to find a label pushing this new craze for a physical production?
The answer is yes. And it took little time. Nobody asked me about the content of this demo. No requests regarding the genesis of the project or information regarding the lyrics.
Nothing. The Demo was quite crude and therefore that was enough.

This shows how this whole new scene called Raw Black Metal is just a farce. The original meaning has been lost.
It might sound presumptuous and extreme, but maybe Fenriz (Darkthrone) was right when he said that Black Metal died in 1994.
Everything that came after that was just a stage play.
And you who are reading these words of mine have two options: understand that it's all a farce or continue to believe in this illusion.
Nothing interests me anymore.
